Begin by having your children pen letters (Yes, this is old-fashioned!) to friends, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Parents can pen letters for their younger children — and it helps the children connect speech with written language. Your old-fashioned jouney will lead you to the Highland Park Pharmacy in Dallas (Knox @ Travis). Sit on a barstool at the counter and order your drinks first! Pick from Ice Cream Floats, Ice Cream Sodas, Shakes and Malts! or All types of Fountain Drinks…limeaide, vanilla coke, cherry Coke, and many other flavors! The most popular menu item is the grilled cheese! Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad, Ham salad, and Pimento Cheese Sandwiches are also available! Traditional breakfast fare is served during the week until 11 am and until 1 pm on Saturdays and Sundays! Sit at the bar or at a table. High Chairs are available, too!

Once your tummies are full, venture to Weir’s Country Store and Vintage Post Office, located in the back of Weir’s Furniture! You will step back in time again and the kids can hand their letters to the attendant at the post office! You will not be able to miss the delightful aromas of freshly brewed coffee, freshly popped popcorn, and freshly baked cookies! They also offer sodas in glass bottles, homemade fudge, and a wide variety of classic candy-counter sweets! Additionally, there are all types of gift and even toys in the Country Store. Your kids will have fun checking out the REAL beehive and playing a round of bottle-cap checkers (Knox Street store only)! Weir’s Country Stores are located in Dallas, Plano and Southlake. Ask a clerk at any of the Country Store locations about the history of the pieces and furnishings!
